FEAR

1946..... 68 Minutes

Peter Cookson, Warren William, Anne Gwynne

In this suspenseful low-budget but fairly well-wrought adaptation of Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment, a destitute medical student in dire need of tuition money desperately sells everything he owns to a dishonest professor. When the student's scholarship is suddenly taken from him, he flies into a rage and kills the professor, whom he feels is somehow responsible for his situation. His life seems to improve thereafter. First he falls in love with a beautiful woman and then gets a small fortune for publishing his writing in an academic journal. This impresses his former college and he gets his scholarship back. Things continue to go well for the young man. Unfortunately for him, the police are hot on his trail and things look bleak until a sudden psychological twist in the story changes everything.
