Director Andrew L. Stone, a stickler for realism, filmed Cry
Terror in its entirety on location in New York, though some
of the houses and apartments are given the back lot art-director
touch. James Mason plays a television repairman coerced to participate
in an extortion plot engineering by bespectacled criminal mastermind
Rod Steiger. The villain wants to utilize Mason's technical
expertise in rigging up a bomb on an airliner. To insure Mason's
cooperation, Steiger's minions (among them Jack Klugman and
Neville Brand) hold the repairman's wife (Inger Stevens) and
children hostage. The wife manages to escape; she trips and
falls on a subway track for a thrilling climax.
